About

I document constantly, we all do with our cameras, with our phones, but also with our emails, messages, whatsapp’s, voice recordings, our search engine, the metadata in our files, etc. We are constantly leaving traces, traces like the ones in our head: the memories. 

I try to intercept this knowledge I have of my past: the files sitting on my laptop and the ones sitting in my head: the memories. Some say that memory in the brain doesn’t behave as the memory in our computer, brain is much more complicated, memories don’t stack , memories re-enact every time we bring them to the present. How much of our memory is getting lost every time we re-enact it we’ll never know, is like the copy of a copy of a copy . One thing is common between computers memory and brain memory , as far as I know, is the linearity of the archive, the timeline. In both instances plays an essential roll. Having this feature of time is essential to make sense of our archive.

We gather information of our particular path and we deliver it into what surround us: other people and things. At the same time all this experiences of the other(s) inflict in ourselves incontrolable impact.

Luciano Goizueta (Costa Rica 1982). In his formal studies has a brief history with architecture, music, and a not so brief in Graphic Arts in the University of Costa Rica.

Goizueta has had several solo an group exhibitions since 2004, among the solo shows: SHUFFLE, Lyle O. Reitzel Gallery, Wynwood Miami (2009); Pillowbook, Diablo Rosso, Panama (2010); Time is all You Need ,  Lyle O. Reitzel, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2011); Lado A – Lado B, Sol del Río Gallery, Guatemala City (2013), Autosimilitud, La ERRE, Guatemala City (2018); Micromanagement Galería veinti4siete, San José, Costa Rica 2018; Metadata, Museo de arte Costarricense (2019).

He has exhibited in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Switzerland, Argentina, The United States, Panama, China, and Canada. His work has participated in art fairs such as Hot Art Fair, Basilea, Suiza.; MACO Art Fair, México; Pinta 09 Art Fair, New York City;  ArtBO, Colombia; Affordable Art Fair, New York City; ArteBA, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Shanghai Art Fair, China; SCOPE Basel, Switzerland.
